Turkish R&D Day, Focus on Research in Turkey

On 29 January 2009, the European Parliament celebrated the Turkish R&D Day.

Turkish R&D Day was organized by TURBO and ALDE with the theme of "Boosting R&D Excellence in Times of Economic Downturn: Insights from Turkey", Turkish R&D Day aims at increasing collaboration within the R&D and Innovation related European Programmes such as FP7, CIP and EUREKA.

This event underlined the growing involvment of Turkey in EU-funded projects and the potential of Turkey’s future research potential.
Janos Potocniz qualified this conference, “a promising partnership” underlying “the importance of a strong partnership between Turkey and the EU in research and technology”.

“Turkey is successfully participating in all the FP7 thematic areas, has been very successful in obtaining Marie-Curie grants and is firmly entrenched in international cooperation instruments - such as Inco.net - on research coordination… This cooperation takes place over a wide range of subjects, often in areas which could help Turkey’s further integration into our European Research Area (ERA).” said Commissioner Janez POTOCNIK. 

During the WWF, Tubitak, The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and the FP7 National Coordination Office at the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, will organise a session on "Water Research Funding in 7th Framework Programme and EUREKA".
