The MSMG

The Members States Mirror Group (MSMG) is an associated body of WssTP. Interested Member States, Associated Candidate Member States and EU Research Framework Programme (FP) Associated States participate with one delegation each in the MSMG.

The MSMG aims to contribute to the objectives of the WssTP, in particular, to contribute to a European R&D strategy with the aim of a more sustainable protection and utilisation of water resources and provision of water services in Europe and in the world.

The Member States Mirror Group has initiated the establishment of National Interest Groups (NIG) to bring together national stakeholders and liaise with the platform.
NIGs have been created in Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Italy, and are developing in many other countries.

MSMG has played an active role in establishing the governance of the platform. The Board is in discussion with MSMG to formalise its contribution and relationship.

The MSMG met three times in 2008, addressing, amongst other issues, the revision of the SRA, mobilisation of national funds, MDGs, and the renewal of the mandate by 2009.  The MSMG contributes to the objectives of  WssTP with the aim of developing, promoting and operating a programme of research, communication, training and knowledge transfer that will stimulate and underpin co-operation and innovation in the European water sector.

The MSMG fulfils its objective by, for example, providing relevant advice and support to WssTP, more specifically, contributing to the activities of WssTP for the implementation of the Strategic Research Agenda by means of the pilot programme and its implementation cases. The MSMG is a body of government representatives and forms a vital link with national policies, research programmes, funding opportunities and requirements for research and technology development.
